About Me

A Clean House Is a Healthy House

My mother always kept a very clean house, so when she began neglecting her house cleaning, I knew something was wrong. She told me that her arthritis was making it tough for her to clean, but that she "didn't care" and that she would just "live with the dirt." I offered to clean her house many times, but she always told me no and that the dirt didn't bother her. When I noticed her sneezing from the dust in her home one day, I decided to research the health effects of a dirty house and print it all off to show her. After I left the papers with her overnight, she then let me hire a cleaning service to clean her house! I know there are others out there in a similar situation, so I want to share my research and cleaning tips with anyone who needs them!

Restoring Your Home After Water Damage

Having a flood in your home is a terrible situation to be in. Having water where it does not belong can do a lot of damage and it can be very hard to know what to do. There are many ways to flood a home; a broken pipe, natural disaster, even a sprinkler system leak. There are so many ways to get a flood, but there is really only one way to clean up after a flooded home. The fact of the matter is that you need to get it cleaned up and cleaned up fast. This is because the longer the water sits stagnant for, the more damage it is going to do to your home. The very best thing that you can do is to act quickly. One of the fastest ways to get things back to normal is by calling a flood restoration company. They are going to know exactly what to do to "bail" you out of the bind you are in. Here are a few things to expect when they come to your home.

Remove The Water

The first order of business will be removing the water from your home. Most of the time the company is going to come into your home with a lot of sump pumps and vacuums. This is going to allow them to start getting the water out of the home. This process can take some time because there can be a lot of water in the home. This is especially true if you have a basement that is full of water. However, do not worry because the technicians that will be removing the water will know what they are doing. Once the majority of the water is removed from the home they will set up a lot of fans to dry the home out. This is also a vital step in the process as you want to save as much home as possible.

Once the home is completely dry, it is time to start restoring what is ruined. Often this is going to be a pretty big renovation project depending on how much and how long the water was in your home. Anything that is molded or warped is going to have to be replaced. It is also possible that you will need completely new drywall. If the wood that makes up the frame is warped there is going to be a lot of work ahead. Once again do not worry as the technicians will have seen it many times.
